Question! Not Just Search…

Artificial Intelligence (Ai) is set to revolutionise every area of our lives. It's here at CCS now! We are already looking to apply Ai to enhance our Client options. So for example at the moment through full text OCR we can search a PDF for words and phrases. Very handy but that simply gives access to a list of documents that contain data. You then need to analyse and apply your question and find the answer. Imagine if you could just skip straight to the end of that process.

Ai In Practice…

No multiple searches. No costly analysis. Ai takes care of all that for you. By way of an example an Insurance firm trying to work out how many policies have a liability exceeding £3000.00 presently would search in a way that pulled all the relevant documents up. They then page through analysing and collating to get to the answer. Several time consuming processes. Imagine using Ai to ask 'the data' 'how many policies have a liability exceeding £3k' and getting an answer in seconds. Fantastic and it is possible now. Structure The Unstructured…

A challenge we often face is a client with 1000's of documents that are unstructured. Sometimes they are not even grouped into document types. We often find this with our legacy data export services. Using machine learning and Ai we are able to engage software to automatically categorise each page. We can therefore split them into document types by using images and the text contained in each document. A structure starts to form quickly.

Machine Learning…

Machine Learning (ML) is a branch of Artificial Intelligence that uses statistical techniques to give Content Capture the ability to learn from data. That's the key - learn from the data (the content on the page) without being explicitly programmed. A practical example of how this could help is to do with the capture of line item data. Machine Learning can work around the capture of a PO Number and improve automated capture success rates.

Blockchain…

Blockchain is a growing list of records, called blocks, which are linked using cryptography. By design a Blockchain is resistant to modification. CCS think this technology is going to gain a strong foothold in certain industry sectors. Especially Human Resources. The whole process of recruitment, CV's, payslips etc. will involve Blockchain. We are looking to combine our data solutions that are needed for compliance and to satisfy statutory archiving requirements with Blockchain technology.

Facial Recognition…

For ten years we have been market leaders in redaction. Protecting the privacy of individuals through text redaction is one challenge but how about CCTV / Video and facial redaction. This is very difficult and involves expensive manual work. That said we are working on Facial Recognition processes that can deliver to the clients expectations and drive down costs.

Signature Validation…

We are working on new technologies to automatically validate signatures. This needs to be 100% audited and verified and with Ai and Machine Learning we are driving towards this point.

Hand Written Content OCR…

CCS was established over 20 years ago. Since day one we have worked on improving the success rate and resilience of this technology. In all honesty this has not moved as quickly as we would have hoped. Its good but with poor hand writing or poor scans the error rate usually falls below the required level to improve efficiency. We are concerned that as Apps and hand held devices replace notepads and pens less hand writing will mean less investment. The big saviour could be Ai and we are constantly pushing to develop this area. Watch this space.

Book Scanning: Page Curve…

Our non destructive book scanning service has operated for several years now. We are constantly striving to straighten out the curve on the page caused by the spine of the book. The bundled software is good but not perfect and this is an area that we are investing in. The problem is the every book is different so the solution needs to be really clever. We have made giant strides and will continue to aim for the perfect page!

Wearable Tech…

Wearable Technology has been around for some time. Looks cool (most of the time) and is really helpful. We already use it to link our online lives with daily tasks like exercise. How about accessing our data and documents. We are working on making this process as smooth as possible. Also making it of practical use as opposed to just a gimmick. Ai searches could be really useful. Encryption is also an area that can be improved and a focus for us.

Auto PDF Bookmarks…

Over 20 years we have scanned so many files that juts have a filename and search capability. Very useful but it would be really handy to Book Mark the PDF. The time to do this manually is often a charge too far but if we could add extra value through effective Automatic bookmarking that is appealing. We think this could be very useful in the Medical Records sector. Again we can do it but now need to make if more and more effective.

Big Data…

Big Data trends shift rapidly, but experts expect machine learning, predictive analytics, IoT and edge computing to have a big impact on big data projects in the years ahead. CCS passionately believe in Big Data and its benefits. Areas that we are working on are Speed. In memory technology is our focus. Solid State Drives for example. Predictive analytics is also an area we are looking to further expand in.

Internet Of Things…

Content Capture is looking to be at the forefront and help our clients benefit from 'The Internet of things'. The IoT is the network of physical devices, vehicles, home appliances, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and connectivity which enables these things to connect, collect and exchange data. Surprisingly few of our clients are looking at this technology. Let's change that together.

Lifelogging…

Lifelogging is exactly what it says on the tin! A visual log of your life recorded via a camera. Sounds a little narcissistic but combined with analysis may help in improving not only your own lifestyle and health but that of the wider community. Our interest as ever is in making the process of analysing images (something we have been doing for 20 years) practical and efficient. Not just a pipe dream on the drawing board. We have already made great strides with life logging.

Object Detection

Every year we scan and migrate millions of pages of data. Some of which is structured. The unstructured data is often really valuable. For example the photographs and slides of a design bureau. Object detection has been around for some time allowing us to add a certain amount of metadata to a document such as a photograph. We are looking to supercharge this. Not just identifying an item such as a bicycle but detecting colour, model, manufacturer and linking to further data.

Document Categorization…

Document Categorization is the basic cognitive process of arranging pages into classes or categories based on type. For example take a batch of scanned accounts documents. Scan them and apply no index. You don't even need to sort them into groups. leave that to our solutions! Press a button and you suddenly have all the purchase invoices categorized, together with the sales invoices, purchase orders, receipts, miscellaneous correspondence etc. You can then press again and further categorise into customer or supplier. Text Summarization…

Text summarization is an area we feel can bring great value to our clients. We have the solutions ready and waiting already and will continue to develop them. Text summarization refers to the technique of shortening long pieces of text. The intention is to create a coherent and fluent summary having only the main points outlined in the document. Our automatic text summarization is based on machine learning and natural language processing. Think how much time you spend reading / flicking through documents to form a summary to work from. We can help you do this in seconds!

Forensic Image Enhancement…

In response to client enquiries we have developed several leading Forensic options. We can enhance blurred video to reveal content such as faces and number plates that have been blurred by movement. We can also identify 'deep fake' image fabrication and tampering. We are really proud to have developed software to help us see around corners! We can use Ai here to turn an image to face us with a good probability the result is accurate from the original pixels visible. One application for this would be to read a car number plate that is virtually side on in the image. Tweak it around frame by frame until the text is visible. Sounds impossible but that's what the ideas lab is all about. Can do not can't!

We were founded in 1997 and it seems like yesterday! Microfilm, Paper on CD's it all seemed like James Bond stuff at the time and here we are 20+ years later and the options are limitless.
